Radios that look perfect on the bench rarely fail for the reasons you modeled first. In the field, cable strain relief, grounding paths, and how a ruck frame shadows an antenna matter more than a tenth of a dB in lab sensitivity.
Checklist before you ship kits
- Label every power source with expected runtime at half and full duty cycle.
- Carry a second means of time sync that does not assume cloud.
- Photograph cable routing at install — it is your cheapest as-built.
We will expand this series with capture logs and spectrum screenshots in a follow-up post.
